Cyclone Series Number is Serious Business
Van Tongeren cyclones are specifically designed for each customer’s exact needs and precise specifications – a process that starts with the Cyclone Series Number.
The cyclone series number is actually a ratio that determines the cyclone’s base efficiency. As the barrel area to inlet area ratio increases, the base efficiency of the cyclone increases as well.
Changes to a cyclone’s geometry regarding its series number directly affects particle collection size. Higher series cyclones are more efficient, but higher series cyclones are larger, and require more materials to fabricate, making them inherently more expensive. Also, existing external vessel size requirements can place limits on the physical dimensions of a new cyclone.
Cost and size requirements can mean a lower series cyclone is a more viable option.
